Making Decisions: Making Good and Bad Choices
Making decisions in an entity is an integral part of day-to-day operations. The management of our organization has been faced with a need to increase the price of services offered to clients, which has ended up being poorly accomplished. The decision-making process has entailed the management team sitting with the finance department and determining services cost, and how much margins have been desired. They have skipped the market research process, which would have established the reception of the new prices by clients. On the new prices’ release, sales have dropped significantly, and the organization has been stuck between going back to the old prices and engaging the marketing team at the point to ensure penetration of the product. Lack of engagement of all the relevant departments has seen the execution of decisions poorly and thereby putting the organization in jeopardy.
Differently, the management have had to make decisions to restructure the organization and close down some departments to ensure efficiency and cut costs. The decision would affect the roles played by the staff and how service has been offered to clients. The process has run smoothly, and employees have been left motivated and ready to work in a changed environment. The process has started with understanding of qualifications, strengths, and weaknesses of the team to determine which departments they would best fit. The process has ensured the involvement of each employee and everyone has been given an opportunity to comprehend changes and therefore get rid of fear and anxiety (Spetzler & Judd, 2016). The process has been followed by creating a trial period where the staff has been allowed to work in new areas and test how well they have been fitted and able to execute their duties. The next process has been training on new operations to ensure a workflow to be understood and questions to be raised to cater for uncertainties. Therefore, changes have been effected via stages, people have been given an opportunity to provide feedback in the process, finally, inefficiencies have been detected and handled fast.
