Water
One of the traits shared by the World Water Wars and The Story of Bottled Water movies is how water has been used by private companies to make some profit. I can agree with the two sources that private companies have gained a lot from selling water at a high price, when it is supposed to be free since it is gotten naturally (Youtube). The impact of this on the poor has been negative since they cannot afford the high cost of clean water and result to other sources of water that are usually contaminated and unhealthy. The difference between the two is the technique that the private companies used in selling the water (Youtube). I can agree that some large companies forcefully purchase water reservoirs for the purpose of selling the water while some companies use other methods such as plastic bottles.
I have learned the importance of water as a vital element to the environment and some of the adverse effects that would result from the unavailability of water in the environment as well as to the humans (YouTube). Moreover, I agree that there is the need for the invention of technology that will be water friendly and prevent and curb water wastage and this will ensure that the underground water reservoirs are appropriately utilized, and water is recycled (YouTube). This will help to avoid drought and desertification, which may be caused by exhaustion of underground water in the coming years.
Further, I agree that water is an essential commodity in our lives as it sustains life and every person has a right to the availability of clean water. I have learned that three-quarters of the earth surface area covered with water, and there is the need for prevention of water pollution by industries. Nevertheless, the is a need for emphasizing on the proper disposal of the waste product in order to ensure rivers, lakes and other water sources are free from pollution.
