Easy things which will make you healthier

You just don’t have the energy that you need to get through the day? Feeling sluggish keeps you from finishing the job at hand? Then it may be time to follow some simple rules for your body. We live in a world that keeps changing from one moment to the other. This affects our minds as well as our bodies, and with most of our time spent sitting in front of screens, we may be doing irreversible harm to the very bodies we need to keep going.

First and foremost, seek the advice of your doctor to make sure there is no physical reason for not feeling your best.

Here are some suggestions that may perk up your day and help you be your healthiest best.

  1. Exercise/stretching

I know, we said easy. But this can be easier than you think. You don’t have to leave your home to give your body the needed stretching it needs to reinvigorate. Just stand up and reach to the ceiling where you are. Reach down to your toes. Do this for 4-10 minutes and you will be surprised how much better your body feels. Lay on the floor and bicycle your legs for a few minutes, while stretching your arms lengthwise along the floor. Breathing in and out easy. Doesn’t that feel good? Paper writing won't go anywhere, plus stretching might plant fresh ideas to your head.

  1. Drink water before you eat anything

Many foods that you eat today are on the go, and that means an increase in your salt/sugar intake. If you drink a full bottle 16 oz. or more of water before every meal, you will be helping your body flush out the majority of the salt and sugar that you have eaten. This also gives you a fuller feeling and may lead to weight loss.

  1. Supplements

Because your body is on the run and not getting the proper exercise of foods at times, vitamins and minerals are needed to supplement your nutrition. This suggestion is to be followed up with advice from your doctor. Not all supplements are compatible with all medications. If you are on any type of medications, call your pharmacists or doctor to find out if you are able to consume certain supplements. This is sure to give you energy and, thus, achieve better results.

  1. Sleep

Sleep is so important for good health that they write tons of reports on how it can impact your life when there is not enough of it. Studies have shown that those who lack enough sleep are less productive and this can actually bring on illnesses that could be avoided if we just get enough of this elusive need in our lives. In some countries a nap is part of the culture, and taking a nap in the afternoon is becoming known as a major stress reliever in many offices. It is amazing how 20 minutes of napping can boost you up in the afternoon hours.

  1. Mental Health

When we are mentally healthy, this also leads to good physical health. You take in so much information during your day that you can get mentally drained. This can take a toll on your physical health. When you are mentally unhealthy you tend to drag along and become irritated and frustrated about everything that comes up in your day. Take the time during your day, preferably the first 30 minutes when you wake, to meditate quietly. As you meditate, sort out in your mind the things that you need to prioritize as opposed to the small stuff that can wait. Your brain is like a computer that can experience overload and cause a breakdown, so don’t burn out your mental chip. Be smart - learn from blogger experience.

  1. Bathe, Not Shower

The difference is huge. Many of us jump in a shower each day, rushing through one of the best things in the world for us, water. Take a nice hot bath in the evenings or get up early enough in the morning to sit and feel the healing power of water. Water can wake you up, or put you to sleep. It is the best medicine for a sore body, a weary body, and an anxious body. Feel the comfort as you slip into the hot water and close your eyes. Turning on your favorite slow music as you let the water do what it does best, blend your physical and mental health, making you ready for the next life situation.

  1. Nutrition

What we eat has taken front page all across the nation. Fast food restaurants have been getting so much flack about not offering healthier choices that they have revamped their menus to accommodate those that want them. This is where you have got to make the decision when you are in that drive thru, looking at the yummy pictures of all of those greasy foods that are not going to give you any energy. Choose the salads, the fruits, and anything that provides fiber. Your stomach is one of the main keys to good health, and if it is not working properly you can just forget anything else working properly.

  1. Check-ups

Regular checkups with your doctor cannot be stressed enough. Today many illnesses can be handled with medication if caught in time by regularly seeing your doctor. Who has not been stopped in their tracks by their eye-health, or dental health due to neglecting the visits that are recommended by our health care providers? Keep your appointments and tell your doctor of any changes in your body that you have noticed since your last visit. Between visits, keep a list of questions that you may have for your doctor so that when in his/her presence it will be easier for you to remember.

  1. An attitude of gratitude

You may be looking at the screen like, huh? What does gratitude have to do with being healthy? Studies show that those who express and feel gratitude for what they have and others, have more energy, are happier, look forward to life, and have more social connections outside of the home. They are also less depressed, sleep more restfully and are much healthier physically, mentally and physically. When you are grateful it opens up in your mind the way to solutions instead of dwelling on the negativity that may try to creep up in your mind. When you focus on good things this can enhance your resilience.

  1. A sense of who you are

Get to know who you are. When we are focused on others all of the time, this also can lead to bad health. Stressed out about others problems and not taking care of what you need to do for you is a killer. You will suffer from headaches, loss of appetite and an overwhelming feeling of a lack of appreciation. Many times when we don’t know ourselves and what we want out of life we tend to gather the wrong people in our circle of friends because we are trying to please others. Take the time to get to know yourself, this is one of the things you can do to improve your health.
