In social psychology, researchers investigate three aspects: social perception, influence, and interaction, and how these can influence an individual's or a group's behavior (Aronson, Wilson & Akert, 2010). Evaluation of educational programs has been utilized in evaluating the success of intervention measures in social psychology, where many psychologists have concentrated on understanding human behavior. To gain a better understanding of social interaction, psychologists have conducted numerous studies in which they research topics affecting social interaction such as racial and ethnic discrimination. In the context of this issue, this talk will go through a study done by Crittle and Madox (2017) on effective interpersonal interactions. The study topic of their research was ""Confronting Bias through Teaching."" From the study by Crittle and Madox, (2017), the purpose of the study was to investigate on the persuasive communication literature from a classroom context regarding racial bias. Racial bias is one of the factors that affect social interactions. Another purpose of the study was to examine the challenges faced by instructors when interacting with their students. Finally, another purpose of the study was to propose strategies that would enhance the effective classroom experience. The goal of this study was to present practice guidance on classroom education using social psychology literature (Crittle and Madox, 2017).

To study about ""Confronting Bias through Teaching,"" the researchers conducted a literature review that was divided into different sections related to the study topic. Following the existing disparities among the ethnic and racial groups in the United States, they can as well be associated with the present bias and discrimination. Concerning the literature review, Crittle and Madox, (2017), discovered that bias confrontation was unsuitable since it caused motivational challenges to the individual who are confronted as well as those who confront. In the classroom context, instructors find themselves in a challenging situation concerning bias confrontation. The challenges experienced in bias confrontation act by discouraging individuals thus presenting a poor social interaction. In the classroom context, confrontation bias faces both the students and the instructors. When teaching about bias, the most affected are those individuals from the minority groups. According to Crittle and Madox, (2017), the instructor as the messenger in the classroom should be able to apply a unique style in which they deliver a message since the message can cause a large impact depending on how the receivers will take it. In this research, the students are the audience, and therefore the instructors should make a consideration of their student's characteristics when illustrating a confronting material.

From the conclusion of the study, Crittle and Madox, (2017), found out that bias confrontation was a great challenge to both the instructors and the students. Again, from the research, they also found that confrontation was an effective method to curb the biased behavior. From the research on attitude and bias confrontation, the researchers found it appropriate to practice framework for the instructor to apply considering the factor that depending on how the instructor delivers the message, it can impact the student's attitude and behavior. According to Crittle and Madox, (2017), having a practice framework will ensure that students are comfortable enough to be able to participate in the dialogue.

From the research above, it is important in making a conclusion that social interaction can easily be affected by racial and ethnic bias as seen in confrontation bias. The research has also demonstrated how confrontation bias can be influential in social dialogue. Concerning the application of this research, it can as well be applied in a different context from the classroom to show how racial bias or even ethnic bias affects social interaction. From a social psychology perspective, the research can be applied to provide conclusions on how the minority groups in the society are faced with challenges regarding confrontation bias.
