Fast Food and the Need for Regulation
Fast food is described as foodstuff that can be easily and quickly prepared and sold in snack bars and restaurants for takeout or as a fast meal. Salads, mashed potatoes, ice cream, hot dogs, pizza, tacos, chicken nuggets, onion rings, French fries, fried chicken, hamburgers, pitas, sandwiches, and fish and chips are popular menu offerings at the majority of fast-food restaurants. Should fast-food establishments be regulated? The idea that the government should impose policies to restrict fast foods has been controversial amongst people for a very long time since a majority of individuals in the society find out that these foods are harmful for human consumption. A good number of the individuals also argue that the idea of regulating fast food is impractical and will only be beneficial for a few people in the society. I hold the opinion that fast foods should be regulated for the reasons that it would force people to have a healthy diet and save the society of disorders such as obesity and overweight that are associated with this kind of foods.
The Dangers of Fast Food
Fast foods should be regulation for the reasons that they are the leading cause of the rapidly increasing number of food budgets taxed by the high cost of convenience, obesity from overindulgence, and foodborne illnesses. Mayntz (2009), discusses the worrying trend of fast food dangers in the American society where he cites that there exists more than two hundred thousand fast food restaurants in the United States with a large number of the hungry patrons being unaware of the dangers that fast food lurks inside the wrappers as well as under the plastic lids of these convenient meals (1). What is more, the author contributes to the factors that have led to this food menace where he says that it is due to their easiness to eat, quickly prepared, inexpensive, and high accessibility. This situation calls for the need of the regulation of these meals (Mayntz 1).
A Looming Health Epidemic

Given the health disorders associated with the fast foods, this trend is worrying and raises an alarm on the need for the regulation of fast foods across the nation in order to reduce a looming health epidemic.
To sum up, the dangers involved with the fast foods and the growing trend of their popularity are matters of great concern that should advocate for the regulation of these foodstuffs. Regulation of these foods will save a good percentage of the citizens from having to succumb to food disorders. Furthermore, it will offer people the opportunity to make healthy choices with regard to food consumption.
