Human Nature
Existing accounts of human evolution have been important in understanding how the current human being has progressed over time. However, they occasionally provide misleading depictions of human biology, which perpetuates ill-informed views of bigotry and socioeconomic injustice. As a result, the majority of people are perplexed about what should be considered normal in modern culture (Fuentes 1). As a result, our degree of knowledge regarding human evolution is a source of uncertainty because it has the potential to improve or degrade our ability to determine bigotry, racism, and injustice. The main problem with viewing racism, violence, and inequality as biological processes is because when we assume something is natural, we do very little to change it. Despite the fact that these aspects are real in our modern society, they are not biological but are instead social creations (Fuentes 1). For instance, racism is a dynamic proposition that can be changed over time if people are encouraged to develop the right attitude to each other irrespective of their color or origin. Modern social categories in the United States such as Black Americans, Asians, and Latinos did not exist in the 1800s, and this is a clear indication that racism is not natural but are just perceptions that people develop over time (Fuentes 1). Although inequality, racism, and violence remain major challenges in the United States, human rights as enshrined in the constitution apply to every individual irrespective of their origin.
The reality is that these ill-informed perceptions are passed from one generation to the other, and people have remained ignorant to determine where social and economic differences originated. Getting right the history of human evolution can, therefore, help to change our understanding that irrespective of biological diversity we are all equal.
