Dan Fabbio was twenty-five when he realized he could no longer listen to stereo music. At that time, he was studying masters of music at (National Public Radio, 25 Aug 2017). When he was hospitalized, it was established that he had a brain tumor. The first impression Dan had was that he must have brain cancer. The tumor was, luckily, benign. Unfortunately, in the region that is supposed to enjoy music, the tumor has greatly affected it. Dan was unable to embrace the fact that, while it was his life, he did not enjoy music. Music was his hobby as well as his career. Dan explained to the surgeon of how music was important to him. The surgeon is someone who had interest in brain mapping therefore could help their patients resume o their duties as fast as possible.

Dr. Web Pilcher and his colleague Brad Mahon had developed a program used in brain mapping that could help in treating all kinds of brain tumors since 2011 (National Public Radio, 25 Aug 2017). They had treated individuals from various professions who were suffering from brain tumors. However, Dan was the first musician who the program was used on (National Public Radio, 25 Aug 2017). Tumors have various impacts on the body. The process of removal of the tumor as well as the tumor itself might have impact to the functions of the brain as parts of the body related to the brain part. The team of surgeons involved in the final surgeon took about six months to study the structure of Fabbio’s brain to ensure that the probabilities of making mistakes are minimal. The team had experience with the left hemisphere. It was the first time when the organization had to map the right hemisphere that is responsible for music.

By involving one of his professors in music theory, Fabbio was conditioned to listen to various piano melodies to help locate the exact brain parts that are responsible to music as well as speech. As he was listening to the various types of music, the brain parts responsible could be easily located (National Public Radio, 25 Aug 2017). During the surgery, Fabbio was not only awake but also playing music. His brain was exposed at that time. This was to help the team of surgeon to determine the exact places to avoid and the parts to focus on and ensure that Dan was well at the end. The surgery took place in July. Fabbio has recovered completely.

Major issue chosen article in the surgery

The major issue chosen in the article is what it takes to make a successful strategy. Despite medical specialists having diverse great knowledge on human health, they still do research to ensure that they conduct their procedures accurately. The team of health professionals took six months to study the right hemisphere responsible for the coordination of music. Not only the tumor that might cause adverse health effects to the victim but also the process involved in the removal. It is important to also note that the effects of the tumor to other parts of the body might take more time as compared to the effects of not properly monitored surgery (National Public Radio, 25 Aug 2017). It is the responsibility of the health of health professionals to save life. Interruption of other parts of the brain especially the right hemisphere of the brain might affect the functions of the limbs.

The article explains how getting patient’s history can really help in determining the right medical intervention that can be taken. Understanding that Fabbio likes music and he can no longer get it, helped them to come into a conclusion that the right hemisphere of the brain is the affected area (National Public Radio, 25 Aug 2017). Clinical epidemiology helped the health care professionals to come up with a program that could be used to treat various types of brain tumors that involved various professionals including, lawyers, and drivers. Surgeries do not necessarily need the patients to sleep to be successful.

Three evidence based strategies demonstrated in the article

Evidence based strategy includes any action that is taken to get certain objective by evidence. The evidence-based strategies are widely used in scientific researches to help fathom various concepts that relate to health. The team demonstrated evidence based strategies in majority of the actions they undertook.

The team took six months to read the normal functioning and structure of the normal right hemisphere of the brain (National Public Radio, 25 Aug 2017). This act as an evidence that for successful surgeries, the normal structure need to be understand to help in knowing the abnormal.

Since the area that was affected was the area responsible for enjoying music. The team of professionals involved his lecturer to determine the affected areas. The team used Magnetic Resonance Imaging to help in determining the specific areas that were affected (National Public Radio, 25 Aug 2017). The team also involved his lecture who socialized in music theory to help stimulate the specific areas needed in music to help the surgeons determine the right steps to take.

Incidences of brain tumors had been on going. Dr. Web Pilcher and Brad Mahon had come up with a program that could help in solving the brain tumors in the left hemisphere. The left hemisphere was affected most often. The approach of developing the most appropriate program to help the situation included checking into the previous researches that were done concerning the left atmosphere. For instance, the left hemisphere controls the activities of the right side of the body.

The most appropriate evidence based strategy

The most appropriate strategy that was employed in the article was the epidemiological approach. The epidemiological data is the basis of accuracy in most of the diagnosis conducted by health professionals. It gives both the nominal and interval data that allows that allows the health professionals to give exact diagnosis of particular health strategy. The evidence based practice strategy is an evidence-based approach that has gain grounds since 1992 after its formal introduction (Brannon, Feist & Updegraff, 2013). It was begun in the field medicine but was later spread to other disciplines like social work, pathology, psychology, and dentistry (Brannon, Feist & Updegraff, 2013). The best strategy in this case could involve checking on the available evidence if certain approach worked in treating a certain health condition or not. It is then followed by identifying the uniqueness of each patient then determining the right procedure to treat their health conditions and determine their appropriate strategy for their treatment and diagnosis. The preferences and values of the patients also need to be evaluated before the health procedure are taken.
