Personality is a consolidation of traits that form a person’s unique character. These characters define an individual’s conduct and contribute towards his/her social appeal. They also decide how someone relates to and feel about other people. Different humans exhibit unique traits, but there a few instances where there are similarities. This essay aims to contrast the personalities of my two longtime high-quality friends, Lisa and Tom Lisa is a sociable and good-humored person; she is fun to be with. At times I feel jealous because everyone seems to like her and always choose to associate with her. Whenever I talk to Lisa, she always tells humorous tales that make me smile. I don’t remember an incident where I frowned when in Lisa’s company. She is very sociable, and people tend to feel comfortable sharing with Lisa, including myself. She helps everyone around her whenever they face particular difficulties. Therefore, Lisa has many friends who like to hang out with her. On the contrary, Tom is a strict and reticent person. He is not a very friendly person and does not have many allies like Lisa. At times I wonder how I manage to hang around with him. Everyone tends to avoid him and feels unfamiliar sharing any story with him. He does tolerate any jokes; no one dares to make fun of him because of his strictness. He looks like an old man and always has very profound thoughts.
In addition, Lisa is very persistent and fearless. She seems to fear nothing at all. At times she engages in extremely dangerous activities that can scare any average person. For instance, when everybody had run out of the house because her younger brother has spotted a snake beneath the sofa, Lisa bravely remained in wondering why did the others disappear so fast. She later removed the snake singled handedly and threw it out of the house. Lisa’s persistent has made her prosper in many things she does. This is one of the things I admire in my friend Lisa. She had always wanted to join the cadet but kept failing the test every now and then. She did not give up or get discouraged; after failing to pass five test, she did the sixth and excelled, and was finally accepted. On the other hand, Tom is very cowardly and self-centered. He does not want anything that scares him, and can rarely give any attention to scary things. His fearful behavior makes him ever unwilling to try out new out new things. Whenever I get a chance to share with him a few moments, he is always talking about the same old things. Despite the fact that he has very profound ideas, Tom is very adamant in accepting new ideas. He is also very self-centered; he always wants things to go his way and never considers the interest or feelings of others. Unless someone goes hard on him, he will also ignore the reactions people around him develop towards his behavior. My friend always wants to be independent and does not like being disturbed.
For the longer we have been friends, I have never noted any similarities between these two allies. They portray entirely different personalities. Just like I stated earlier, it is very rare to have friends with similar traits; there is always a variation. Understanding someone’s personality is key to maintaining a close friendship since not every character differs.
