Any organization's effectiveness is determined by its ability to accomplish its objectives in a successful and productive manner. For this to happen, certain crucial factors must be in motion, such as how well the organizational system is functioning, what vision and intent this organization stand for, and how trustworthy its workers are in order for the company to accomplish its aims while avoiding problems and poor work conditions, with fairness and dignity playing a vital role in this. The following are several strategies that a company should use to ensure its success.

Planning

It entails the thorough, continuing, and deliberate act of mapping or chalking out an organization's future path. It is of paramount importance as from a plan is where the organization is able to get direction and energy ensuring that the companies resources both human and non human are put into the best possible use (Daft, 2008).

Organizing

Organizing can simply be defined as the proper distribution of resources or the bringing together of the entire physical, human, and financial resources of the organization and in turn creating an environment where of all them can function effectively towards reaching the organizational goals(Daft, 2008).
In order to do so effectively a good manager must, identify the activities that the organization is undertaking; classify those activities into groups which enable the manager now to be able to assign duties effectively, delegate authority and responsibilities while being able to coordinate all that.

Staffing

This is one of the most important management functions as it involves human resources. Here the manager is tasked with manning the organization or simply doing everything possible to place the right person at the right job according to their qualifications, gifts and talents.
For this to be effectively done the manager has to do a recruitment drive, then select the right people according to the organizations goals, train, develop, remunerate, conduct performance appraisals, and finally conduct promotions and transfers(Daft, 2008).

Directing / Leading

This is the aspect of management that involves personalized and directed show of influence, guidance and motivation towards the members of the organizations in order to achieve the organizations end goals. Leadership, motivation, supervisions and communication on a day to day basis would make this possible and effective.

Controlling

Contrary to the literal meaning of the word, controlling in management involves measuring and correcting the performance activities of the staff members so as to ensure the organizations goals are met and are followed. It entails comparing the performance standards that have to be put in place first, to find out if there is any kind of deviation and to correct it(Daft, 2008).
This function ensures that the organization is running smoothly and is in line with its set plan and goals.

Mission Statement

A mission statement is a short, written statement declaring the organizations core purpose of existence. It tries to filter what is important and what is not, the market the organization is focused on, the direction the organization wants to take, and is usually unchanged over a long period time, sometimes throughout the organizations life (Talbot, 2003).
For a mission statement to be effective it has to fulfill a number of qualities; it has to be short and memorable such that every member of the organization can easily recite it and remember it, it should clearly declare why the organization is in existence stating its core purpose (Talbot, 2003).
It should be customer focused, where the needs of the customer come first above every other thing, it should be motivational and inspirational to the members of the organization, clear and realistic saying what the organization would want to be remembered for and finally it should clearly state the organizations value system, its ethics, culture and norms for example say the company is highly devoted to providing quality efficient and personalized service for all our customers (Talbot, 2003).
A good example of an organization’s mission statement that is clear, concise and memorable is one of TED organization which is simply stated in two words, spreading ideas. It is hard not to remember this mission statement and with the two words the organization has been able to state its core purpose of existence, inspire and motivate.

Work ethics violations

The question of workplace ethics has been at the core of every organizations effective existence. The fact that people have to work together brings in the question of how the management has to ensure that the relationships created do not infringe, deny or unfairly cross the ethical bridge of each and every member of the staff(Williams, 2011).
In this case we will discuss the issue of integrity. This is for many organizations the most important ethical aspect which every of its employee must have. It is the centered on trust and honesty. However, over the years organizations have experienced a violation of this important aspect in many ways for example;
- Bullying of junior employees by their seniors
- Employees not delivering on assignments on time and giving excuses to that end just to justify unproductiveness.
- Trading sex for favors
- Spreading gossip and rumors about fellow employees.
- Stealing of company’s resources both physical and financial.
- Misuse of companies resources
- Lying to a customer about the shortcoming of a product just to get them to buy it.
These are just but a few examples of how why the management should be keen to ensure work ethics are followed, punishing those who violate otherwise it creates a chaotic and unfavorable environment for the achievement of the organization’s goals.

Conclusion

Any organization is as strong as its leadership and with leadership focused on success proper and efficient management is at the core of it. If an organization is able to effectively embrace all the functions of management, be true to a good mission statement and uphold honesty and integrity then success is next to guaranteed.
