Reasons for Requesting a Transfer to Kean University
When I first started at Colgate College, Hamilton, I realized that the courses were not as expansive as I had imagined, and as a result, I was limited in my ability to choose the fields in which I wanted to major. In essence, the college does not have the basic course major that I want to pursue. The college is still in the same metropolitan area where I attended high school, but I am mostly confined to the small town where I grew up for college. I was hoping to join a bigger college that is situated in a much larger community that would be essential in broadening my educational as well as social life. Not only will I be a part of a college that has different courses to choose from but I would also have the opportunity of interacting with people from various regions of the world, exchanging ideas with them and thus growing both socially and culturally. Being in a much bigger community would help me appreciate life beyond my small community in all aspects.
Academic Interests and the Choice of Kean University
I would not say that my reasons for requesting for a transfer are entirely academic, as I have discussed already, but the educational aspect plays a significant role in wanting to join a bigger college. I would like to pursue Sociology as a major and I think that Kean University is the ideal college for me, seeing as it admits students from across the globe and the courses offered are diverse and will help me chase after my dream. This college is nothing but amazing and so are the professors and staff. I am very grateful for the lessons I have gathered from here but by opting to remain behind, I would not be fully exploiting my academic strengths and it is as a result of this, mainly, that I wish to transfer colleges to Kean University.
Non-Academic Interests and the Appeal of Kean University
However, my non-academic interests for joining Kean University include wanting to interact with and be part of a larger community. These interactions are essential ultimately in my course of study. Although this is coming from a small town, anyone would expect that a small college would be my first choice but I am interested in joining a more high-ranking institution that is going to satisfy my curiosity concerning learning more. At the same time, it will give me an environment that is suitable enough to broaden and enhance my knowledge and understanding in Sociology, learn different social aspects across cultures and at the same time participate in activities that allow me to grow as a Social major. I also find Kean University to be a more competitive institution and that is exactly what I need to help me push beyond my limits.

My academic transcripts are a reflection of how well I have done at my time in Colgate College and I am quite encouraged that I will meet and handle the academic challenges that Kean University may pose. I am very sure that I would excel at Kean University and that your option of sociology as a major as well as the other minor combinations that I am allowed to choose from will wholly go with my academic interests and career aspirations.
