COMPASSION IN PALLIATIVE CARE

Any health care organization needs a specific working module that works as the driving force towards its success. Therefore the incorporation of compassion to the activities of the institution works to upscale the quality of service. Palliative health concerns generally deals with patients who have chronic diseases like cancer which require very strict attention. Addressing the challenges requires strict attention and adequate care that will enable the care givers give hope to the ailing patients.

Health and Compassion

Compassion is one of the core values that are advocated for in the palliative care Industry standard care guidelines. Compassion in palliative care entails doing what is good and what is also beneficial to clients and patients. The core value of the institution is to provide quality health care with utmost love to the available patients.

Analysis and Evaluation (Compassion)

Proper healthcare and treatment works to improve the overall welfare of an individual. For the entire process to be fruitful, compassion is a vital element which every individual should uphold strongly. Adequate treatment seeks to be provided with tender love and care thus ensuring successful medical attention. By the provision of an all round care and support, the patients can adequately improve in their health status in the long run. Compassion also seeks to give hope to the entire health fraternity irrespective of the challenges which they face in their daily activities in the health institution. A conducive and compassionate working condition seeks to improve the productivity of the care givers.

Findings

Dobrina adequately points out that the element of compassion tends to improve the welfare of the care givers and the patients (Dobrina, Tenze, 2014 Pg. 79).

A loving and hospitable health institution serves to address all the issues of the patients. Such instances can be applied to cancer patients who are at their critical phase just as Dhai(2015, p 78) points.

Believing in the provision of quality care is an important element of Palliative health analysis. In this case, Schiessl accordingly asserts that compassion works to improve the quality of health services in any institution (Schiessl, 2012 pg.25).

It is advisable that frequent checkups should be conducted to ensure that any slight changes in the conditions of the patients should be recorded thus determining the progress of the treatment.

Mkwinda in his deeper analysis of the palliative care given to patients in Malawi tends to assess the situation which the HIV/AIDS patients are considered (Mkwinda, 2014, 65). The findings suggest that treating the persons with a kind heart provides them with a new hope in life.

Dressler, Daniel ,. McKean, John , and Danielle give an upper hand in palliative medicine practices. In this case, compassion as a key element is an important stepping stone in realizing the goals of such a process.

Mkwinda in his second edition further addresses the implications of palliative care.(Mkwinda, 2014, 433) He points out that the incorporation of compassion into the health issues serves to improve the quality of health services offered.

Discussion

Compassion implies sense of understanding as a result of the suffering of other persons. Compassion helps bring a strong relationship between the patients and the medical practitioners. Having precise information of the problems and the diseases affecting the patients is an important factor in improvising patient inventory on the entire subject matter.

By the complete use of compassion, there is a close link between the upper management, the staff and the patients.

Dobrina (2014, pg. 56) points out it is essential that the care givers consider the well being of the patient is of great essence. In this case, incorporating compassion seeks to ease the quality of service delivery thus helping the patients get well fast.

Conclusion

In conclusion, core values are meant to ensure that nurses and doctors attend to patients who have severe ailments. Quality service delivery enhances the well being of the patients and provides hope for the future. Chronic diseases tend to incapacitate individual but through palliative care patients can get adequate care that can guarantee their recovery.
