A majority of people in society with low economic status live in the suburbs and thus support a shift in zoning policies so that they can take advantage of better social amenities in the suburbs. On the contrary, certain rich people are not ready, because the involvement of the rich leads to the rise of social problems including substance addiction, crimes, and tragedy in the suburbs, to share residential and social services with the poor.
At first, scientists proposed that an individual's behavior depends entirely on its genetic components. However, modern studies have shown that the environment in which personalities live influences the manner in which people conduct themselves. Besides, the behaviors that people exhibit significantly develops from the social interactions among the society members (Ashford & LeCroy 17). Therefore, from the studies that scholars have conducted, it is evident that the surrounding of an individual is a critical contributor to one's actions and people need to be cautious with activities that their neighbors undertake.
Researchers have also shown that the environment of an individual significantly influences the social behaviors one exhibits (Ashford & LeCroy 17). Therefore, a change in one's location leads to a change in the behaviors that one exhibits. For instance, identical twins will develop different social behaviors when they grow up in varied geographical areas. According to the analysis that scholars have done, the difference in the behaviors results from the socialization in the society.
An analysis of the lifestyles of the various categories of personalities in the society indicates that the poor engage in activities such as the sale of drugs, theft, and prostitution as a way of generating incomes to meet their financial needs. Therefore, the creation of specialized residential to allow the poor people to live in the suburbs will adversely influence the lifestyles of the rich. Specifically, the previously mentioned activities will negatively affect the security of the wealthy individuals living in the suburbs. Furthermore, the migration of the poor to the affluent suburban areas will critically lead to congestions in the social amenities thus contributes to the decline in the quality of services the facilities in the suburbs offer. Lastly, the creation of subsidized houses to accommodate the poor in the suburbs will be costly for the government and will lead to a rise in the levels of taxation to help sustain the program.
As previously discussed the presence of the poor and the working class in the suburbs will have adverse impacts on the welfare of the wealthy personalities. In contrast, an extensive examination of the society indicates that the various social classes in the community depend on one another. For instance, the rich require the services of the poor to help achieve some goals hence the presence of the poor in the suburbs is crucial for the efficient operation of the society. However, the poor can still offer services to the wealthy without necessarily residing in the subsidized in the suburbs.
In conclusion, the environment in which individuals live has significant impacts on their behaviors and a change in the place of residence critically leads to a shift in one's social actions. However, leaders should not influence suburbs to rewrite housing policies to allow for affordable housing, which will lead to the immigration of the poor to the suburbs thus increase the levels of social challenges in the suburbs.
