In Aikido, the concept of Ki explains that energy is released by individuals in the environment. This energy is produced when people engage in certain movements and it is produced in both animals and plants. The Ki system is used to increase peace and calm in the mind. I usually try Ki in some of my excursions in nature. Anytime I visit the park, I use Ki to relax myself. I go with my brother most times on saturdays. In the park, we do it to help us calm down. On these occasions, we identify areas in the park that are less populated, clean the area of all debris and sit facing each other on the grasses. One occasion, one of the visitors in the park mocked our initiative. He inferred a stereotypic statement to mock the efforts that we expended in practicing Aikido. Since we were in the open, I was significantly rattled by the individual. I wanted to punish him be beating him in retaliation. However, I willed my body to stay calm. My success in restraint was augmented by the physical movements that we instituted with my brother as a distraction from the impending fight.
Essentially, the movements allowed me an avenue by which I could expend the frustration and anger that I felt at being mocked. Ki is not concerned with the physical strength but rather the manifestation of restraint and control. It provides one with a medium through which they could regulate their activities in the environment without letting the external parties rattle their internal peace.
