The Little Prince Book Review
The Little Prince is a tale by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry and it has been one of the most significant books to me since I was young. Its illustrations are colored richly and the book tells the story of the prince, who met a pilot lost in a desert. I found the book thrilling at the time since it made a lot of observations about human nature and life. For example, I used to be awed by the story of a fox that met the young prince while on his journey on earth (de Saint-Exupéry 23). The moral of the story is shown in the remark said by the fox: a person sees clearly with the heart rather than the eye (de Saint-Exupéry 23). I also learned that one has to become responsible for the one he or she has tamed. Although, The Little Prince has been an important book to me since my childhood, I perceive it differently now, as an adult.
I understood author’s unwillingness to grow up. The narrator’s confusion and feelings about the world of the grown up were always close to my own perception. Nevertheless, I have learned to appreciate the author’s message in another way and to see deep allegory in the world, described by him. This story gave me an unusual stand point about life now, when I’m a grown-up, and taught that not all things that adults do have sense. For instance, while the narration tells about different social structures, such as monarchy and capitalism, it also shows that people running them may be illogical and not concerned about the real problems of the world. In light of this, the The Little Prince is a different story from what I read when I was younger.
