The author of this article notes the global advances in science that have been made over the years to enable the world to achieve an era of peace and humanitarianism. He notes that globalization brought about mixed especially in the 20th century drawing the question whether globalization is bringing us, humans, together or not. The various parties involved in this phenomena define globalization emphasizing mostly on the economic dimension. Getting rid of the “artificial” obstructions to flow of factors of production, goods, and services on the global market are seen as an important network of global integration. Basing on this aspect of globalization can be said to be an integration that is done by the intended project with an aim to expand the roles a nation’s market to reach the international or global level. Various philosophers and scholars have a different perspective when it comes to globalization. There are hyperglobalist, transformationalist and the skeptical globalist all who see globalization from a different perspective (Hirst, Grahame, and Simon, 15).

James Traub in his “Moral Order in a Divided World” book review notes that globalization has changed the world especially when it comes to world democracy but notes that globalization does not mean necessary guarantees democracy all over the world. Globalization helps in building positive relationship among countries especially when nations exchange goods and services, ideas and technology (James & Paul, 211). There have also been reports from the developing countries showing that globalization has improved their economy significantly. This happens by reducing poverty and promotion of tourism and the industrial sectors. Additionally, Removing barriers to trade among countries have had a significant influence on economies all over the world notably improving the economies since countries can exchange and trade various goods and services.

Globalization however not perfect and it has had its shortcomings as the author of this article articulates. Globalization has been accused of damaging cultural identities. Each nation has its own set of culture and beliefs that it has been practicing for years when globalization came, many cultures were brought together, and this led to the famous cultures in the world overtaking other culture. The American culture, for example, has been practiced in many countries as a result of these countries watching American movies, songs, and the general media and in the process believing that it’s much better than their culture since individuals portrayed in these cultures are successful. (Knutsen & Torbjørn, 26).

In conclusion, globalization is an important concept in the modern world that causes a great debate among many scholars. The book review of “Moral Order in a Divided World” done by James Traub deeply analyses the issue of globalization and look at both side of globalization. Globalization has its main advantages when it comes to unifying the world but on the other hand it has its challenges.
