The research question of the study is: What are the economic advantages of creating HR in UAE? This question focuses the research towards methods and literature that concentrate on the advantages of using HR in UAE to encourage economic growth and development.

Research Objectives

Main Objective

  • To identify the economic advantages of creating HR in UAE

Sub Objectives

  • To establish the association between HR and economic growth
  • To discover the implications of HR development on organizational achievement
  • To ascertain the advantages of diverse HR approaches to the economy of UAE To figure out the implications of HR on employment and productivity in UAE

Research Design

The study will use a descriptive research design which involves observation and description of existing phenomena to uncover facts and meaning. In the study, the UAE’s economy and HR perspectives will be observed from different secondary sources. The data will then be collected and categorized in a table to identify relations between the variables under study – HR perspectives and economic growth and development. According to Polit and Hungler (65), the purpose of a descriptive research is to observe, describe and document various aspects of a naturally occurring situation. In this case, the UAE’s economic growth and HR approaches are naturally occurring in the economy; so they are observed, described and documented as they are to determine whether HR development has influenced the economy positively.

Sample Design

Since this research will utilize secondary data only, the subjects to be sampled in the study will be relevant text books, websites and articles that have information about the economic benefits of developing HR in UAE. To find relevant sources, the study will use key words that will easily be picked by search engines. The key words are obtained from the research objectives: Economic benefits, developing HR, UAE, economic growth, HR perspectives or approaches, and employment and productivity. The sources are then categorized according to the research objectives and summarized in a table to give a clear and descriptive understanding of the key findings of each source. The sources will be selected based on the relevance and reliability, whereby the most relevant and reliable sources are selected first. A total of 20 sources will be selected, at least 4 for each objective.

Observational Design

Observational design is used in an observational study which does not require the manipulation of subjects. In an observational study, the researcher observes the variables and draws inferences from the sample to apply to the overall population (Rosenbaum 89). In this research, the sampled secondary sources are used to draw inferences whereby the independent variable (HR development and perspectives) is not controlled by the researcher. They are just observed from the secondary sources of data and described in relation to the dependent variables (economic growth and productivity). According to Rosenbaum (75), the motivation of observational study is the lack of control by the investigator on the subjects. In the current study, the researcher will not be able to control the human perspectives of various organizations and government institutions in UAE. Instead, these approaches are observed from various secondary sources including government websites, articles, text books and HR reports.

The observational design involves reading and interpreting data from these sources to look for facts and figures related to HR development and economic performance of UAE. This method is chosen simply because the researcher lacks a requisite capacity to manipulate the effects of HR development on economic growth. Therefore, it will only be necessary and feasible to observe the current data and trends of the two variables with an aim of finding a relationship between them.

Statistical Design

The statistical design will include methods of data analysis and presentation. The data will be analysed using excel software, tables and figures. First, data is recorded in tables in a Microsoft word and categorized according to the five objectives of the study, and then coded and recorded in an excel software for easy interpretation and description. This qualitative approach of data analysis involves identifying common patterns within observations or responses to achieve specific objectives (Casella 234). In this regard, achieving the objectives of this study will require the researcher to observe the patterns and facts of HR development and its economic benefits in UAE. With the absence of primary data, the data analysis will involve discussions of common patterns, including controversies found within the secondary data in relation to the chosen topic.

The major statistical approach is to sort, categorize, and code the results before being tabulated for effective description of patterns and facts. The categorization process involves separating the sources according to the information they carry. They are categorized according to the research objectives. The information of each source is further broken down into specific points that support the main idea. These points are further categorized to enable the researcher to identify strong economic benefits of HR development from the different categories of the collected data. The information is then tabulated and coded before being presented in an excel software for the purpose of regression analysis. This statistical analysis enables the researcher to identify the relationship between the chosen variables of the study.

Operational Design

An operational design is the planning approach for an operation. In this study, the operational research includes the schedules, time, resources and major sections that will be executed in the study. The study will begin with the process of scanning for the secondary sources of data through the internet and libraries and categorize them according to their purpose and content in relation to the research objectives. This will require some money and a bit of some time, approximately 2 weeks. The next step will be to analyze the data using appropriate software and approaches. The findings from the analysis will then be summarized. The next step will be to write the first draft with all the research sections, including introduction, literature review, methodology, analysis, research findings, and conclusion and recommendation. The first draft will then be revised in second and final drafts with changes whenever necessary.
