The United States faces challenges with Immigrants
In order to limit the number of immigrants entering the country, the United States faces challenges. According to a new census in the USA, the number of immigrants in the last few years has clearly increased. This knowledge contributed to my instincts to research the proportion of immigrants from various countries to the United States. I visited the Civil Service and Immigration Office of the United States one day and I held an interview with 33 immigrants between 9:00 am and 11:00 am. This sample contains four Chinese, twelve Mexicans, eight Asians, two Germans and seven Canadians. However, it should be noted that the sample ignored gender, race, and heights of the immigrants among other physical characteristics.
Analysis of Data
The data collected from the sample may represent the entire population of immigrants in the United States. Concerning the information, it is evident that majority of the immigrants coming into the US are Mexicans with an average of 37%. This high percentage is attributed to the proximity of Mexico to the United States. Moreover, the second highest population of immigrants comes from Asian at 24% who are closely followed by the Canadians at 21%. These results can be better represented visually using graphs and pictorials as shown below.
When data is represented using graphs and pictorials, it is easily understood by people unlike if it is tabulated or in the form of raw data. Besides, individuals who do not have background knowledge in statistics may benefit and find meaning from such representations. From the bar graph, the country with the highest peak is Mexico. Also, the Mexicans have the largest portion of the circle in the pie chart.
