There is a great connection between infectious disease and chronic diseases. According to O’Connor, Taylor, and Hughes, (n.p), many marketers of contagious diseases result in continual illness indicating that most of the chronic stipulations are infection related. On the other hand, there are variations between the manifestations of these disorders in the human body. The infectious conditions manifest when exogenous agents link with the environmental host or when the herbal host is invaded by an endogenous agent causing a disease. Majority of infectious illnesses last for days to weeks depending on individual’s immunity. Infections enter the human physique through various openings in the main the genitals, mouth, and nose. They target the immune system and develop the same identity as the cells within and finally destroy the host cells.
Chronic diseases are those that persist for more than three months. According to Choi, Morrison, Wong, WU, and Yan, the majority of chronic diseases originate from infections such as liver cancer and cervical cancer caused by hepatitis B and C viruses and Human Papillomaviruses respectively (1). Infectious s are the most common though chronic disorders are the most lethal.
An environment can expose people to various hazardous conditions. The risk factors include living in areas that are heavily polluted either through contaminated water, inadequate waste management, poor sanitation, and indoor air pollution. According to Briggs, the impact of human activities has led to the increased development of health risks and also physical abrasion (1). The physical effects of environmental pollution include noise and vibrations from machinery which leads to collapsing of buildings, destructions of roads and others may result in deafness. There is also a vital relationship between environmental impacts on the natural disasters such as soil erosion, landslides, and floods. The most health emergencies that humans are susceptible to include chronic diseases such as cancer, infant mortality, respiratory disorders, and organ disturbances.
The emergencies resulting from environmental impacts on natural disasters and pollution can be mitigated through various management approaches. For instance, to reduce the emission of harmful gases by industrial activities, household’s activities, and vehicles, it is vital for thee sectors to switch to modern methods that provide environmentally friendly fuels such as biogas, and solar generated energies (Choi et al., 3). To prevent emergencies relating to health, there should be a combination of improved sanitation and adequate water supply, especially in urban areas. The development of water-borne sewerage systems is another alternative in areas with restricted water supply.
To be a good listener, I have developed various listening habits which include opening up body language. It is a habit that enables one to actively listen to the speaker through finding comfort and having an eye contact. The practice also entails smiling and applauding the speaker and showing interest. The other habit I have developed is staying engaged in focusing and having full attention. Resisting interruptions is another habit I employ in a conversation to avoid the speaker from losing their ideas and opinions. Another pattern that I have is being empathetic and reasoning with the speaker especially in an emotional discussion. I have a weakness in asking questions. This has been a challenge since sometimes I do not understand some concepts. These habits are essential in my academics as they have significantly impacted in understanding critical concepts especially in various topics that involve the emerging issues. It has also helped me in gaining confidence while interacting with other people from diverse backgrounds of professionalism.
