Applied ethics
Applied ethics explores the acceptability of morality for individual practices and deals with essential life decisions. Applied ethics questions morality and instigates a new thought than people have been thinking for too long (Dittmer, 2014). Ethics is not arbitrary, in reality. My intended career is medicine, specializing in nursing. As a nurse, I believe applied ethics are an important part of my workplace. The theory of justice is the best applied ethics in this profession. Grace (2017) claims that a patient's right to equal care, compensation for any sort of damage and due process in a clinical sense has been acknowledged by the theory of justice. Over the decade, there has been a parallel increase of attention on ethical issues in nursing practice. As a result, nurse practitioners focus on choices and values that contribute to the benefit of individual patients and society. Therefore, incorporation of the principle of justice in my planned profession will efficiently solve inherent ethical problems.

Undoubtedly, abortion is an ethical issue in nursing practice. Nurse practitioners face a tremendous challenge while choosing between freedom and life. Pro-choice individuals advocate for freedom of choice among patients. On the other hand, pro-life critics argue that life of the unborn is equally important to that of the mother. Resolving this ethical dilemma on abortion would mean identification of affected parties and adopting the best course of action that is morally right. According to Grace (2017), the principle of justice in nursing profession enable practitioners to reduce patient suffering and pain. Moreover, the applied ethics principle provides a framework for a valid moral obligation to mitigate uninformed and morally wrong decisions. Therefore, professionals should portray high ethical standards in their decisions in the workplace. Dittmer (2014) asserts that life becomes more meaningful when people connect themselves with important issues.
